Philipsburg- The number of Navy officers on Sint Maarten is slowly but surely increasing. According to tweets from the Dutch Navy Corps, the reestablishment of law and order on the island is one of their first priorities.
Yesterday and today there were increasing reports about serious looting taking place out of not only supermarkets but also jewelers and other stores. According to yet unconfirmed reports, good were also stolen from Kooyman Sint Maarten.
On various videos road blocks could be seen set up by heavily armed military forces, blocking off roads en controlling vehicles. Residents in general applaud the efforts by the Navy to start controlling the situation.
