Kralendijk- Customs Dog Jacky, which got killed in traffic a mere 2 days after being presented to the public in Bonaire, was featured in a segment on Dutch SBS6 TV.
Jacky was the first customs dog specifically trained to be able to detect sea turtles and corals in suitcase of tourists leaving the island. The idea was that, by using the dog at for instance the aiport, smuggling of legally protected corals, shells and turtles would be prevented.
The dog was tragically killed yesterday (Sunday) when she jumped out of the car she was transported in and killed by a vehicle. The Customs & Tax department said to be extremely sad by the course of events.
