Kralendijk- Travelers making use of the Flamingo Airport will notice the presence of new immigration counters, both at the arrival and departure hall of the airport. The new counters, made out of glass and metal, are the same ones to be found in Dutch airports and therefore represent a more uniform look.
With the transition of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba to the status of ‘special municipality’ of Holland, border control became a responsibility of the Dutch Military Police, de Koninklijke Marechaussee.
Recently The Netherlands made it know that they wanted to take over border control on the semi-autonomous country of Sint Maarten also, as precondition to financial aid to help the country build up again after the devastating effects of hurricane Irma.
