THE BOTTOM- The Public Entity’s reforestation project has begun transferring over 500 saplings from its nursery at the Agriculture Station to a newly established second site at the hydroponics farm in Rendezvous.
This move, initiated at the start of the year, aims to free up space at the first nursery to grow additional trees.
By late 2024, the original nursery had reached its capacity, prompting the need for expansion. The recently completed greenhouses at the hydroponics farm offered a timely solution, allowing the reforestation project to utilize one greenhouse as a temporary nursery. The saplings will continue to grow there until they are ready for outplanting, after which the greenhouse will return to its intended purpose of supporting local food production.
Efforts
This expansion highlights the project’s commitment to increasing reforestation efforts while making efficient use of available resources.
