
Kralendijk – Yesterday evening (Wednesday) the Special Olympic team Bonaire departed for Dubai / Abu Dhabi.
A total of twelve athletes will represent Bonaire at the biggest world tournament of this moment; The Special Olympics World Games 2019. The athletes participate in the following sections: 4 swimming, 4 bocca and 4 athletics.
The opening ceremony will take place on 14 March and the tournament runs until 21 March. It is the first time that it is held in the Middle East.
The Special Olympics is the world’s largest humanitarian sport event and a global movement that focuses on the empowerment of “People of Determination” with intellectual disabilities through the power of sport.
