Companies in Bonaire Recognized for Investing in BBL Students
KRALENDIJK – On February 14, ROA CN nominated fourteen companies for their commitment to the Beroepsbegeleidende Leerweg (BBL), a work-study program where employees attend school one day a week while gaining practical experience on the job under the guidance of colleagues.
According to ROA, the number of BBL students on Bonaire has grown significantly, surpassing full-time students for the first time this academic year.
The nominated companies, including Fundashon Mariadal, Buddy Dive Resort, and Stichting Project, actively contribute to the development of their employees. Employers invest in training to ensure a qualified local workforce and secure the continuity of their businesses.
ROA CN emphasizes the importance of certified training companies for BBL students’ success. The organization trains workplace supervisors and accredits companies to guarantee the quality of learning environments. According to ROA CN Director Elyane Nicolaas, vocational education is the backbone of the island. In September, ROA CN and Plenchi di Trabou will host a symposium on how businesses, schools, and government institutions can collaborate to support local workforce development.
