Inspections at restaurants and food trucks on Bonaire: 13 businesses without valid permit

KRALENDIJK – During the month of March 2026, the Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement carried out a series of targeted inspections at various hospitality businesses, snack bars, restaurants, and mobile food stalls on Bonaire.
The inspections took place primarily in the evening hours and on weekends, as some businesses operate outside regular office hours. During the inspections, officials checked whether businesses held a valid permit, as required under Article 3 of the Bonaire Hospitality and Beverages Ordinance.
A total of 46 businesses were inspected. At 13 businesses, it was found that they did not have a valid permit or that their documentation was not in order. The inspections also revealed that some operators lacked an operating licence, were unable to produce required documents, deviated from the location or activities specified in their permit, or failed to comply with the conditions attached to their permit.
The directorate has taken enforcement measures against the businesses found to be in violation, including in certain cases a temporary suspension of their business activities. The operators were addressed and requested to bring their permits into compliance as soon as possible.
The Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement emphasises that compliance with the rules is mandatory. These rules exist to protect public safety, public health, hygiene, and a well-maintained public environment. The directorate calls on business owners to check and renew all permits in a timely manner, and to comply with the associated conditions in order to avoid enforcement action.
Continuation
In the period ahead, the Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement will continue to actively carry out inspections on activities that require a permit in the hospitality and street trading sector. Violations will be acted upon in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement states that with this approach, it is working towards a safe, fair, and healthy community on Bonaire.
