KPCN Introduces Updated Complaints Procedure

KRALENDIJK – As of January 1, 2025, the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) has introduced a new complaints procedure aimed at ensuring transparent and professional handling of complaints.

According to a press release from KPCN, the new approach is designed to strengthen trust between citizens and the police. The procedure consists of two phases: an informal mediation process between the complainant and the involved officer, followed by formal handling by an independent complaints committee if necessary.

Police Chief Alwyn Braaf highlighted the importance of the new system: “Complaints are an opportunity to learn and to strengthen the trust between citizens and the police.”

In addition to providing a structured resolution process, the procedure also safeguards the interests of police officers. Complaints are approached as a learning opportunity rather than a punitive measure, promoting professionalism and mutual understanding.

Improved Service
According to KPCN, the updated complaints procedure represents a significant step towards greater transparency and improved service delivery. Citizens can easily file complaints using the digital form available on the KPCN website.
