Willemstad – Last Saturday, July 27 the Rescue & AMP Coordination Center (RCC) of the Coast Guard received the message that an offshore supply ship was in trouble and needed help.
The ship, MISS DEBBIE, was about 215 nautical miles north-west at that time from Aruba and was sinking. There were 3 people on board who were en route to Aruba to deliver the ship to its owner.
The Coast Guard immediately dispatched the 8 aircraft to locate the ship. In the meantime, a message has been sent to all ship who were in the area to provide assistance.
At that time there were two ships nearby: the HARUNA EXPRESS and the cruise ship SEA PRINCESS on its way to Curacao. Haruna Express was unable to assist, however, SEA PRINCESS was able to and sent out life boats for the three men.
