Concerning Trends Revealed in Crime Analysis for the Caribbean Netherlands
The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) has published the Crime Pattern Analysis (CBA) 2020-2024, a comprehensive overview of crime developments on Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. This third edition, fully conducted by KPCN analysts, serves as the foundation for a strategic approach to safety and law enforcement in the Caribbean Netherlands.
The analysis highlights concerning trends, such as an increase in youth crime, violent offences, and firearm-related incidents. Migration-related crime, cybercrime, and environmental crime also demand attention. Traffic-related crime remains a challenge, while property crime is decreasing but still poses concerns with issues such as scooter thefts and home burglaries.
The CBA is based on data from KPCN and information from partners such as the Public Prosecution Service and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. Its objective is to identify crime patterns and develop targeted strategies.
Collaboration
KPCN emphasizes the importance of collaboration with policymakers and the community to create a safe living environment. Based on the analysis, strategic priorities for the coming years will be determined.
