Eleven KPCN Trainees Begin Police Training Program on St. Maarten

PHILIPSBURG—On Monday, January 27, 2025, the two-year police training program officially commenced for eleven new trainee officers of the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN).

The KPCN officers are undergoing their training alongside seven trainee officers from the Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM). The kick-off for the training took place at the police station in Philipsburg, where speeches were delivered by, among others, Sint Maarten’s Minister of Justice, Nathalie Tackling, and the police chiefs of both KPCN, Alwyn Braaf, and KPSM, Carl John.

The eleven KPCN trainees will complete the theoretical portion of their training on Sint Maarten and will then gain practical experience on Bonaire. Upon completion of the program, they will receive a police diploma at the MBO-4 level and will be deployable on Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.
