ORANJESTAD – The launch of the Region Deal marks a pivotal moment for Sint Eustatius, combining sustainable development, cultural preservation, and community well-being. Commissioner Rechelline Leerdam called the initiative “a chance to unlock Statia’s long-hidden potential” and highlighted the significance of Statia Day 2026, which will commemorate 250 years of unity and resilience.

Backed by €10 million in funding, the Region Deal will revitalize cultural landmarks like Fort Oranje and Battery Amsterdam, transforming them into hubs for public gatherings and economic growth. Investments in healthcare and recreational facilities aim to improve quality of life, while eco-tourism and heritage tourism are key components of the plan to boost the island’s economy.
