Statia Government Responds to Infrastructure and Development Concerns
ORANJESTAD- The government of St. Eustatius on Sunday afternoon has responded to recent public discussions regarding infrastructural development and concerns in relation to a letter sent by Golden Rock Resort, impacting their operation on the island.
The statement mentions that Government is committed to ‘lawful and sustainable development’ that benefits ‘the entire community’.
The government by means of their communication also acknowledges the ongoing challenges related to road conditions and infrastructure, issues that have been widely discussed by residents. “We are fully aware of the frustrations regarding present road conditions and ongoing infrastructural challenges,” the statement noted, adding that rehabilitation projects are underway. Authorities emphasize that efforts are being made to secure the necessary resources to improve roads leading to residential, commercial, and tourist areas.
The government also addresses broader concerns about economic development and investor relations, highlighting its stance on responsible investment. “We welcome all investors who contribute positively to the island’s development and strive to facilitate projects that align with Statia’s long-term vision,” as stated in the release.
Not concrete
The release on behalf of Statia Government does not react concretely to the demands made by the owner of Golden Rock Resort, among which the free transportation of water to the resort, or the finalization of pending permits for further construction on the Resort’s premises.
