4 Drivers Taken to Police Station in Bonaire DUI-checks
Kralendijk- During a traffic control, executed by Police in Bonaire yesterday from about 8 PM, a total of 177 drivers were stopped and checked on the precense of alcohol in their system. From those checked, no less than 24 drivers (about 14%) had more alcohol in their system than deemed acceptable. They had to leave their car behind and find other means of transportation.
Four of the drivers checked were so drunk, that Police decided to take them down to the Police Station where they were charged for Driving under Influence, according to information provided by the Police Force Caribbean Netherlands (KPCN).
Police had recently already communicated that they were about to implement controls by means of a breathalyzer. In a press statement, Police say they plan to continue with regular traffic and alcohol controls.
