Willemstad- The highly anticipated flights of Aruba Airlines to and from Curaçao which were supposed to be launched yesterday have not materialized. According to still unconfirmed information, the wet-leased Dash-8 has not arrived on Aruba and has reportedly been confronted with technical issues.

Even more surprising is the total lack of communication on behalf of the airline. The airline could this afternoon not immediately be reached for an update on the pending flights and there is no information to be found on either the Aruba Airlines website, or on the Facebook Page of the airline, which only still promotes the “amazing opportunity” of the new flights to and from Curaçao.

Various passengers who arrived with tickets in their hands were dismayed to find out that they would not be able to travel any time soon. According to information obtained from Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), there was one Aruba Airlines flight scheduled for yesterday which was eventually cancelled.

The lack of information to the general public about the delay in the start of the flights can be seen as quite disappointing and does not inspire high hopes for the service the airline will to offer to travelers looking for an alternative to Insel Air flights.

Aruba Airlines had also stated in recent weeks to start with flights to and from Bonaire, but has not provided a concrete date for the start of these flights.
