Bonaire is Ready for Firework Sales
KRALENDIJK – Bonaire is ready for the sale of fireworks, which may officially begin on Friday. The Public Entity Bonaire (PEB) grants an exemption from the usual ban for the sale and use of fireworks.
Despite rumors about fireworks’ containers not arriving on the island in time, it appears that there are actually more, rather than fewer, sales points this year. Compared to previous years, it is also noticeable that there are hardly any small fireworks stalls. Most sellers operate from large, converted 40-foot containers, making a grander presentation with temporary parking spaces and proper signage.
On Boxing Day, vendors were still busy restocking sales points late into the afternoon, which are allowed to open as of this morning.
Caution
Earlier this week, the PEB called for consideration of the island’s animals when using fireworks. The PEB recommends using decorative fireworks rather than loud, explosive ones.
Additionally, the PEB urges the public to report startled or injured animals to the island’s animal protection services.
