PM Mercelina Reflects on Challenges and Outlines Priorities for 2025
PHILIPSBURG – Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina addressed the people of St. Maarten as the nation welcomed 2025, reflecting on the challenges and achievements of the past year and outlining priorities for the future.
In his New Year’s speech, Dr. Mercelina highlighted key developments in 2024, including the reopening of Princess Juliana International Airport, improvements to the electrical grid, and international events that drew attention to the island. He emphasized the importance of community efforts and the contributions of individuals in strengthening the nation.
Priorities
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister encouraged citizens to focus on three priorities: protecting the environment, fostering community ties, and contributing to the island’s growth. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing issues such as job creation, education, healthcare, and climate resilience.
