Willemstad- Turks and Caicos-based interCaribbean Airways is presently executing the flights between the ABC islands on behalf of Insel Air, now that Insel’s only operational aircraft is undergoing maintenance. The arrangement, whereby a wet-leased Embraer 120 airplane executes the flights, is said to be for 3 days.

The flights by interCaribbean are mainly executed in the afternoon and evening hours. Insel Air’s first flight of the day arrives in Bonaire around 3 PM. The carrier is currently only executing 2 daily return flights at present, compared to 3 – 4 in their normal schedule.

The arrangement with interCaribbean means that for the first time in its existence, Insel Air is completely dependent on other carriers to execute their flights. Flights to Sint Maarten and Suriname are at present executed with a wet-leased Conviasa jet aircraft.

Embattled Insel Air has in the meantime appointed a new executive director in the person of Lars de Brabander. De Brabander used to be regional manager for KLM and was already involved with Insel Air in his capacity as member of the Board of Directors.
