Successful PIVA Meeting for Census Offices

Kralendijk- The heads of the Census Offices of Caribbean Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten recently met for the bi-annual meeting. The meeting called PIVA was a success and of great importance.

On Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 April, members of the Platform for Personal Information for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba (PIVA) met in Curaçao.

The purpose of the platform is to enter into dialogue with each other twice a year and to discuss what is necessary to guarantee the quality of personal data, proper registration of (new) personal data, to strengthen cooperation between the islands and the Netherlands and to take care of it. for correct decision-making from an administrative level. This time the theme of the meeting was “Without vision no mission, without action no success”.

The PIVA platform is formed by the heads of the Census officers from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Maarten, cabinets of governors of the Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten, National Service for Identity Data and the Ministry of BZK, department DIO.

No fewer than 34 people were present and various members gave a presentation. The future and development of the PIVA Platform and the actions that are needed to match the ambitions that are there with the activities that are needed to realize them have been discussed in concrete terms. It is now up to the countries concerned to continue the work and to continue with the qualitative digitization of personal data.

The year 2019 is extra special for the platform because it has been around for 20 years this year. This was considered during a dinner. Pacheco Römer, the very first PIVA Platform chairman, was also present during the dinner and briefly shared the history of PIVA with the attendees. The Minister of Planning and Services Armin Konket was also present during the festive dinner.

The members look back on being constructive together.
