Coastguard Continues to Patrol Waters around ABC islands
Willemstad- The Coastguard for the Dutch Caribbean Islands assures that the organizations continues to patrol day and night and deploys all its available vessels to ensure safety and security in the territorial waters of the ABC islands.
“The trip from Venezuela to the ABC islands is a very dangerous trip; the sea is rough and unpredictable, the boats are often not seaworthy and usually take too many people on board, without adequate rescue equipment. This is a major security risk”., according to Coast Guard spokes person Shalick Clement.
Coastguard 113 number
The Coastguard appeals on residents who observe ‘suspicious situations’ at sea and on the coastlines to call the Coastguard 913 number. Vessels at sea can also contact the Rescue and Coordination Center of the Coastguard via VHF channel 16 when observing suspicious and / or dangerous situations.
The Coastguard states that with the cooperation of Citizens on the islands, the sea and the coastlines can be kept safe.
