Acting Island-governor Betancourt heads Cuba Delegation
Kralendijk- Deputy Island-Governor Evelyn Betancourt-Anthony is back on Bonaire after leading a delegation to Cuba in preperation of the Festival del Cariba which will take place in July of this year.
Bonaire has been given a central place in the celebration, reason for various visits to the Communist island in order to prepare well for the event. The delegation visted both Havan and Santiago. The festival will take place in Santiago.
Betancourt was happy with the results of the visit. “I want to thank the Cuban population for the opportunity provide to showcase ourselves with our Caribbean neighbours” said Betancourt upon her return. Betancourt was, among others, also acompanied by writer Boi Antoin and by Angelo Domacassé who has been appointed as the cultural director for the event.
