Authorities Bonaire Eyeing Possible Illegal Prostitution

Kralendijk- The Police Force of Caribbean Netherlands (KPCN) has carried out a planned action between Thursday 29 November and Sunday 1 December in a effort to thwart or prevent illegal prostitution at various establishments on the island.

According to KPCN they action was taking in the light of insistent signs that illegal prostitution is taking place on the island and causing the necessary nuisance in neighborhoods.

During controls held, a total of 7 illegal immigrants were arrested and transferred to the the local prison (JICN), pending their deportation to their country of origin.

Call on residents

According to the Police, determining illegal prostitution and/or human trafficking is not easy. This is why an appeal is being made to residents of the island to actively report signals of either illegal prostitution or suspected human traficking. This can be done by calling 911 / (+599) 715 8000 or via the anonymous tip line (+599) 717 7251.

The Police department says they do not exclude the possibility that more actions will be taken in the future aimed at prostitution and human trafficking.
