Coastguard Intercepts Bonairean Fishing Boat with Suspicious Packages
Willemstad/Kralendijk- The Coast Guard this afternoon has detained a Bonerean fishing boat, suspected of conducting a drugs transport.
The fishing boat was detected by the Coastguard at Caracasbaai. The vessel with three people on board was from Bonaire.
Due to suspicious circumstances, the Coastguard sent a Metal Shark patrol to Caracasbaai. The fishing boat was found at the fishing port at Caracasbaai.
Upon arrival at the Metal Shark, the team boarded to check the boat and the crew. During the check, three bags with different packages were found, probably with narcotic drugs.
The three persons on board were immediately arrested and the fishing boat was sailed by the Coast Guard personnel to the jetty of the Curaçao support center.
All three suspected men and suspicious packages have been handed over to the Curaçao Police Force investigation team for further investigation.
