Community St. Eustatius Invited to Discuss Reburial Ceremony 

ORANJESTAD —The Statian community is invited to a gathering aimed at preserving the island’s cultural heritage. Titled “Planning the Reburial Ceremony, Safeguarding our Heritage,” the event will take place on February 1st at 7:30 PM at the ELMA Building, Methodist Church.

The evening will feature café-style conversations, offering community members an opportunity to share their perspectives on key topics. These include envisioning the reburial ceremony for the Golden Rock Ancestral Remains, addressing the handling of samples collected from the remains without prior consent, and identifying elements of Statia’s tangible and intangible heritage that should be protected under local ordinances.
