Council of State Receives ‘185 Miles of Wind’ by Sint Maarten Artist Ruby Bute
The Hague- This afternoon minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten Jorien Wuite presented the artwork 185 miles of winds to vice-president of the Council of State Thom de Graaf.
Sint Maarten artist Ruby Bute painted the work a year after Hurricane Irma. The painting takes a tour through various institutions in The Hague. The work was previously with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense and will still go on to the Senate and the Second Chamber.
Until 15 February however, it will be the guest of the Council of State. It is in the public space and is therefore visible in the coming weeks for all visitors to the Council of State.
De Graaf commented that after the hurricane, there was a sudden realization throughout the Netherlands that other people in the Kingdome were in need.
“The undivided Dutch nationality was suddenly more than a constitutional phenomenon: it really was there “, said De Graaf.
