Interim Government Installs ‘Social Advisory Board’
Oranjestad- The interim-government installed by Central Government in The Hague as installed a so-called ‘Advisory Board’, representing the population in St. Eustatius.
The Advisory Board consists of a total of 15 persons. Currently forming part of the Board are Ivan Berkel, Camelia Berkel Dembrook, Mia van Deelen, Juliette Nyha George, Franklin Gibbs, Sharon Hassell Heemstadt, Ramona Hendrickson Duinkerk, Dion Humphreys, Charles Lindo, Federico Lara Reyes, Iris Liu, Virgil Sams, Ebeline Schmidt Haynes, Ingrid Whitfield and Eardley Woodley.
According to a press release sent out earlier this week, the advisory board “may advise and indicate how the population thinks about the approach of the Council”. No details were made known however, how the members of the Advisory Board were chosen and what the rights and obligations of the Board are.
The interim-government in the meantime held their first meeting with the Advisory Board. This meeting took place on Tuesday February 20, 2018 at the Public Library.
According to information provided, the intention is for the Advisory Board to hold public consultations every Wednesday morning between 8 and 11 AM at the Government Administration building.
The Advisory Board will furthermore hold monthly consultations with Non-Governmental organizations on the island.
