Job Center First Tangible Product of Government Agreement

Kralendijk- In the future there will be one counter for employers and employees where all services in the field of employment are offered on Bonaire: the job center. This has been agreed between local Government and the Kingdom Government in The Hauge.

The establishment of the Job Center is one of the first concrete actions based on the Government agreement signed with The Hague last week. According to information provided by the Executive Council, the goal of the job center is centralize all relevant information in one place, when it comes to work and income.

According to Government, job seekers will receive tailor-made support in finding a job or moving on to another job. For example, the job center will have an overview of vacancies, training opportunities and combination of work and study.

Employers can report vacancies to the new job center and receive information about employment permits or other questions they may have. The center will also provide coaching to adequately supervise hired employees.

Less paperwork
According to Government, the job center will ensures that residents of Bonaire are faced with less receive less ‘paperwork’, will spend less time to visit different places and will be linked more quickly to possible job opening or other opportunities.

Those wanting to make use of the new job center will still have to wait a bit. The goal, according to information received from local Government, is to open the job center by the end of 2019. In the coming months, the Executive Council wants to work with various partners to set up a successful job center.
