The Bottom, Saba- The manual registration of land on Saba may soon be a thing of the past. Until now, the upkeep of land registers on Saba is being done manually. This way of recording real property matters comes with several challenges, such as the fact that it is more difficult to search recorded documents and the risk of deterioration of paper by time, fire or hurricane.

The Public Entity Saba, in close cooperation with the Kadaster in the Netherlands, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and currently the Ministry of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations worked on developing a new initiative called ‘Kadorweb Saba’. Kadorweb Saba will make it possible for land registration to be executed digitally making it more efficient, effective and sustainable.

Recently Mr. Hamilton Boelijn from Kadaster NL met with Commissioner Rolando Wilson and Mr. Robert Zagers, Planning Bureau Department Head, in regards to Kadorweb Saba. Mr. Boelijn said to be delighted to see that the project was progressing smoothly on Saba.

The introduction of a Geographic Information System (GIS) was also discussed. GIS is a computerized system whereby companies and Government departments can work together to share general information. The project team decided that the GIS will be worked on and introduced after completion and commissioning of Kadorweb Saba.
