Minister Gumbs demands CBCS amend controversial billboard
PHILIPSBURG- Minister of Finance Marinka Gumbs has urged Richard Doornbosch, President of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS), to amend a controversial billboard promoting the new Caribbean Guilder.
The billboard, located at the Salt Pickers roundabout, depicts an incomplete map of St. Martin, omitting the northern half of the island. This has sparked significant backlash, particularly on social media.
Minister Gumbs emphasizes the importance of accurately representing the island in its entirety, highlighting that such omissions can be seen as disrespectful and divisive.
Corrected
She has therefore requested that the billboard be corrected promptly to reflect the full map of St. Martin, respecting the island’s historical and cultural unity.
