Kralendijk- The Public Entity Bonaire has issued a new ordinance outlining the maximum prices for both locally produced and imported chicken eggs. The previous maximum prices dated back to February 10, 2011.
Maximum wholesale prices for locally produced eggs with a weight of 730 grams or more will be 2 dollars and 64 cents. For eggs weighing less than 730 grams per dozen, this will be 2 dollars and 49 cents. When it comes to retail, the maximum prices will be 2 dollars 78, respectively 2.62 per dozen.
Imported eggs are much cheaper with a price of 1 dollar and 30 cents per dozen wholesale and 1 dollar and 37 cents retail for eggs with a weight of 730 grams or more. For the smaller eggs weighing less than 730 grams this will be respectively 1 dollar and 16 cents (wholesale) and 1 dollar 23 cents (retail).
Importers are warned that they are to ensure that the important eggs meet safety and health regulations stipulated by the Public Entity.
