Oranjestad – The new AFISO tower and passenger terminal on St. Eustatius will be ready at the end of 2020.

Recently Rijkswaterstaat, commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, started the tender for the construction of a new AFISO tower and passenger terminal at the airport of St. Eustatius.

The current tower and passenger terminal no longer meet the requirements, are outdated and need long overdue maintenance. That is why it was decided to construct a new building. By the end of 2020 the buildings will be ready and shall be put into use. Rijkswaterstaat works closely together with the Public Entity of St. Eustatius during the realization of the new buildings and the commissioning, in order to make this process as smooth as possible.

Tender

During the tender, every contractor who meets the requirements set by Rijkswaterstaat can compete for the assignment. On January 9, 2019, there is an information session at the airport during which interested contractors can obtain more information about this assignment. Questions can also be asked and the location where the new buildings are realized, will be visited. This should lead to the fact that, if everything goes according the plan, in March 2019 a contractor will be selected who will be commissioned in April 2019 for the realization of these two buildings. Construction work will start after a few months of preparation.

More information for contractors can be found on www.tenderned.nl
