Willemstad- Curaçao International Airport has recently completed the upgrading of their terminal, both land and air side.

The new facilities are considerably more comfortable, offer expanded food & beverage options and but also more seating and more duty-free shopping.

Last week the new VIP lounge was also opened. The new lounge is much bigger and also much more luxurious as was the case with the previous one. Downsides are a (much) higher price tag, namely $32 per visit instead of the old fee of $20 per visit, as well as the fact that important airlines such as Avianca and COPA do not have an agreement with the airport for use by their premium passengers.

The new facilities also include two ‘quiet rooms’ for those preferring to read or work in a quite environment. A bit peculiar is the absence of work stations. Guests wanting to work will either have to do so a laptop truly on their lap, or can make use of a common table with high bar-type chairs, which are in reality not ideal to work.

The glass doors behind the common seating area give way to two seperate ‘quiet rooms’

All in all however, Curaçao Airport has created a new VIP area the likes of which this report has not see in other Caribbean destinations and leaves many US airports behind when it comes to comfort of F&B offerings.
