Prison Opens JICN Internal Store to Promote Rehabilitation and Staff Retention
KRALENDIJK – The Judicial Institution Caribbean Netherlands (JICN) officially opened its internal store, ‘Toko Leny,’. Made possible by the efforts of initiator Karel Martis and director Wibo de Vries, the store provides inmates with the opportunity to purchase essential products and actively participate in its daily operations.
Tasks such as inventory management and stocking shelves help prepare inmates for a successful reintegration into society.
The store also plays a vital role in retaining experienced staff. Older employees who struggle to keep up with regular duties are given adapted positions, allowing them to continue their careers with dignity.
Responsibility
With strict rules and a focus on education and rehabilitation, ‘Toko Leny’ emphasizes the importance of responsibility and structure. The project highlights how opportunities for both inmates and staff can go hand in hand, representing a significant step forward for the JICN.
