Kralendijk- MPB Party Leader Elvis Tjin-Asjoe says that his party is of the opinion that efforts to implement an integrity screening for future commissioners forming the government of Bonaire are a good start but that an integrity assessment of current commissioners is ‘just as important’.

The MPB has written an extensive letter to island Governor, Edison Rijna, motivating their position. “One of the current commissioners (reference is made to commissioner and UPB-party leader James Kroon, editor) has been dismissed as a customs officer as he has, during his former tenure as commissioner, committed forgery in with the issuing of a taxi license”, writes the MPB. “He challenged his dismissal in Court, but the judge agreed with his employer, RCN, and his resignation was valid,” according to the MPB’s letter to Rijna.

According to MPB, there is reasons to also doubt the integrity of the two other commissioners, Cicilia and Martis.

“Based on these latest developments, combined with the history and actions of the members of this Executive Council, we strongly advise you to have an integrity scan of this Executive Council as soon as possible,” concludes the MPB in her letter to Rijna.
