ST. CATHERINE, Jamaica – Jamaica has launched The Nest, an eco-industrial park featuring the Caribbean’s largest poultry processing facility. This JMD 15 billion investment by CB Group is the largest in Jamaica’s agricultural history, aiming to boost food security and reduce the region’s reliance on $200 million in annual chicken imports.

Central to The Nest is the Air Chill Processing Plant, which uses innovative technology to improve poultry quality while conserving resources. It positions Jamaica to become a net chicken exporter by 2035 and a leader in regional food security.

The project also emphasizes sustainability, reducing water usage by 250 million liters annually and eliminating chemical cooling processes. Beyond poultry, the facility supports other agricultural industries and fosters education by opening its doors to inspire the next generation of agriculturists.

Agricultural transformation

Prime Minister Andrew Holness praised the initiative, calling it a blueprint for agricultural transformation. “This isn’t just about food security—it’s about creating resilience and regional leadership.” The Nest highlights the Caribbean’s potential to lead in sustainable agriculture and collaboration.
