ORANJESTAD – A hiker was successfully rescued following an incident at The Quill National Park on St. Eustatius. The rescue operation was a joint effort of various emergency services on the island.

The emergency call came in at 1:23 PM on February 14 through the Bonaire control room. Within half an hour, a tactical team was on site, consisting of members from the Sint Eustatius Search and Rescue Team (SSRT), KPCN, ambulance service, and the fire department.

The victim, who was part of a group of nine hikers, was located at 2:05 PM. After receiving first aid on site, the hiker was safely escorted down the mountain, where ambulance personnel were ready to provide further treatment.

The entire operation was completed within an hour. The Executive Council of St. Eustatius commends the quick and professional response of all emergency services involved.
