Farmers, Livestock holders and Fishers Statia to Receive Compensation
Oranjestad- The Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (LVV) will soon start with the distribution of compensation to farmers and fiserhmen on St. Eustatius for material lost during the passage of the hurricanes in 2017.
The compensation will be based on an assessment that was done by the Government Commissioner and subsequently presented to the Dutch Government.
According to Government, most material such as fencing post, fencing, zinc etcetera is already on island.
The materials will be distributed from the compound Zagen en Schaven, in collaboration with the Wederopbouw Programme St. Eustatius.
“We are happy that we are so far that materials can be distributed. We will therefore ensure that the materials will be put to good use and as fast as possible”, said Veterinarian Sharon Veira of LVV.
