Kralendijk- The EQ Foundation, championing for Equal rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people on the Bonaire, will be organizing an HIV Awareness week for the third time. During the week, many activities will take place with the aim of providing information about HIV. EQ points out that people can contract HIV infection in various ways, but the most common infection is through sex.

The risk of contamination is realistically present due to unsafe sex without common prevention methods, such as a condom. By having unsafe sex and multiple partners, the chance of becoming infected with the virus is high.

The EQ Foundation hopes that the different activities during this week will make people think and realize that safe sex is a must. Fundashon Mariadal is also participating in the information week this year.

On November 29 an information morning will be held in the patio of the hospital where the professionals of the infection clinic are ready to give information about the importance of testing and medication. There is also a Zumba Marathon on November 28 where the participation is free, but EQ hopes for a voluntary contribution from participants. The location for this even is Courtyard by Marriott and will start at 5.45 AM.

Movie
On 30 November, the movie ‘Aan niets dood’ (Dead from nothing) will be shown at Jong Bonaire, starting at 7 pm. The Curacao filmmaker and actor Raymi Sambo will explain why he made this film and how important it is to talk about HIV.

Together with Raymi some classes from Liseo, Forma and Jong Bonaire will be visited by EQ for informative lessons on this subject. To end the week there is a festival on December 1, World Aids Day.

From 6 am to 1 am at night there is plenty to do at Bar Restaurant Mofongo. Music entertainment drinks and appetizers for just $ 10- pre-sale and 20.- at the door. This week was created by sponsors such as FXDC, COC Netherlands, Courtyard Marriott.
