Kralendijk- The Public Entity Bonaire, together with Selibon, has installed new waste facilities at frequently visited locations along the coast.

The facilities consist of concrete boxes containing waste bins. The waste bins are intended for the beach guests’ waste. In some locations, a metal waste bin is also placed on the outside of the concrete bins. This metal container is specially designed for charcoal. Charcoal can pollute the beach and is also bad for the coral reefs. Government and Selibon urge everyone to use the waste bins for which they are intended.

Thanks to the new facilities, holidaymakers have many more options for leaving their waste in a decent way. The concrete boxes prevent the wind from blowing up the waste bins or that donkeys turn over the bins. The waste facilities are part of the project “Ecological restoration of Lac and the southern coastal area” which is financed with the nature funds of the Kingdom Government.
