Kralendijk/The Bottom -Commissioners Nina den Heyer (Bonaire) and Bruce Zagers (Saba) have recently signed a contract with the renowned Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Through the agreement students of the 2 islands who want to attend this institution for further education will receive a reduced tuition fee.

The signing of the agreement is good news for the islands and the students in question. Absent at the signing was St. Eustatius. It is unknown at this point if Statia did not want to form part of the agreement or if their absence is due to the latest struggles with the Dutch government and their ability to act without prior approval for nearly anything.

Flagler College for quite some time already has been quite popular with students from our islands, who prefer to continue their studies in the United States. Students at Flagler can choose from 31 majors and 36 minors. The institutions states that students ‘will combine focused academic study with real-world experiences and community-integrated projects’.
