Bonaire National Marine Park Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Kralendijk- Last weekend STINAPA celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Bonaire National Marine Park.

According to STINAPA, the anniversary is an important milestone. “Bonaire has always been a pioneer in the nature conservation and the official establishment of a marinepark was an important fact”, according to STINAPA.

Sorobon was the center for celebration, with different sport activities like Beach tennis and beach volley and bolas criollas. Prizes were handed out for the various tournaments held over past weeks, such as the Lionfish Derby that took place on October 12 and 13. Team HoneyBee took the main prize for the most lion-fish caught, a total of 108 lion-fish.

There was also various activities for kids, like face painting, rope pulling and water bouncer. The free food for everyone was the highlight of the festivities,  various lion-fish dishes, goat en chicken with a various options of side dishes was prepared by local chefs.

DJ Marv, Kara Kora and Tessa Fessa entertained the crowd till 4pm.
