This morning, Divi Divi Air held the first training in Bonaire for their new DHC-6 ‘Twinotter’ aircraft. The training, which was aimed at the ground-crew of the airline at the Flamingo Airport, is part of the process to take the new aircraft into service. Divi Divi expects to execute the same training in Aruba next week.

Director of Divi Divi Air, Germaine Richie, told the BES-Reporter that the company is hopeful that the PJ-DVD registered airplane can be taken into service before the end of the year. The company yesterday had already received the air-worthiness certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Curaçao (CCAA).

The expansion with a Twinotter plane by the small airline, which is known for its punctual service, means that more passengers can be transported per flight. At present it regularly happens that the British-Normander aircraft with which the airline is flying, and which can transport 8 – 9 passengers, is fully booked.

With the deployment of the Twinotter, Divi Divi Air, which so far offered mainly regular flights between Curaçao and Bonaire, will also start with regular flights to Aruba.
