Santo Domingo- Insel Air apparently is not the only Caribbean airline with serious problems. Dominican newspaper El Día writes in an article today that Dominican Aviation Authorities have suspended the operational permit of the airline which has, in recent years, expanded quite aggressively throughout the Caribbean from it’s hub in Las America Airport in Santo Domingo.

Rumors about the airline’s financial stability are certainly not new. The airport operator of Las Americas on various occasions had already suspended the provision of services to PAWA Dominicana due to arrears in payment for facilities used at the airport. Last month, Haitian Aviation authorities had also moved to ground a PAWA plane en route to Sint Maarten, due to payment arrears for services used at the Haitian airport.

According to El Dia, the move by Dominican Authorities means that PAWA Dominican will now have to cease operations. According to the newspaper, the suspension of the license would be for a period of 3 months to see if the carrier would be able to solve their financial issues.

El Día quotes PAWA Director Sebastien García saying that, so far, the airline was operating its normal schedule.
