Dr. Damien Wilson New House Officer at SMMC

Dr. Damien Wilson, a son of the soil, has been named as the new House Officer at SMMC.

St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) says to be pleased to announce the hiring of Medical Doctor Dr. Damien Wilson, a Sint Maartner, as of March 8th, 2019.

According to SMMC, Dr. Wilson comes to the hospital filled with enthusiasm to utilize his knowledge for serving our patient community with quality care close to home. 

Dr. Wilson is the first House Officer at SMMC. The House Officer works, examines, diagnoses as well as administers general medical treatment in the prevention and control of diseases. In his new capacity, he works in close collaboration with the Medical Specialists to provide medical care to patients on the Medical/Surgical ward.

“The position is very wide-ranging in scope, and as such is not limited to one medical discipline, but allows versatility to work and continue learning from all medical disciplines. I believe that this is a position that will further enhance the quality of care at the SMMC”, said Dr. Wilson about his new task.

Wilson explained that he always tried to do his best at anything that he had done his life, and taking on the new function at SMMC would be no exception.

“I will strive to be a valuable asset to the team of dynamic healthcare professionals at the SMMC. Being the first at anything means that you set the standard for those who will come after you. While that in itself is a very tall order, I welcome it with open arms and an open mind”, said the Dr. Wilson.

Medical Director, Dr. Felix Holiday sees the appointment of Dr. Wilson as a new milestone. “Another milestone in the vision to enhance quality care while expanding the variety of specialties has been achieved. It also gives great pleasure to be able contribute to young local professionals to further build their career through SMMC”, according to the director.

SMMC said they are looking forward to a good working relationship, ‘serving the patient community with quality care close to home’.
