Sint Eustatius – The Unit Manager and one employee of Licenses, Supervision, Enforcement, Ms. Wilma van Zoest, Mr. Clyde I. van Putten successfully completed an extensive weights and measurements training facilitated by the Radio Communications Agency (‘Agentschap Telecom’) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK).

The training was held from September 4th until September 13th in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. Both civil servants are now able to carry out inspections of all scales, electricity meters and fuel pumps on St. Eustatius.
On St. Eustatius the IJk inspection takes place twice per year. During this inspection the following activities take place: Inspecting all weighing scales, updating existing inventory, inspection of gasoline and gasoil pumps. The St. Eustatius Utilities Company (STUCO) is required to register all new KwH meters arriving on St. Eustatius with the Unit Licenses, Supervision, and Enforcement. The Unit checks randomly and inspects complaints. Effective March 2020 Wilma van Zoest, who currently carries out the IJK Inspection on St. Eustatius will transfer this task to Clyde van Putten who is the Inspector for Economy.

The islands of Bonaire, Saba, St. Eustatius and St. Maarten also participated in the training. Although St. Maarten has a different legislation they were able to benefit from the practical training. A follow-up training will be organized. This was refresher training for van Zoest who followed this training on a previous occasion. The inspection task falls under the Public Entity of St. Eustatius Unit of Licences, Supervision and Enforcement.
