Kralendijk – EZ Air this morning operated its first-ever flight between Bonaire and the Colombian coast city Barranquilla.

The flight departed this morning at 10.30 from Flamingo airport and touched down shortly after 11 AM local time at Ernesto Cortissoz airport of Barranquilla.

The first flight to Colombia was charter flight, executed on behalf of health insurer ZVK. The carrier will, within short, also start with the execution of scheduled flights to Baranquilla.

EZ Air director René Winkel traveled together with the ZVK patients on the flight this morning. “A lot of paperwork precedes the permission to fly to Colombia,” said Winkel. According to the airline’s CEO, the company started with the preparation for the execution of commercial flights to Colombia for several months. According to Winkel, the process is progressing well and agreements have since been reached with the handling of flights and other parties involved in the process.

The first flight of this morning was immediately full: all 18 seats on board the Beechcraft 1900D were occupied. At 12.05 the PJ-EZY took off again from Barranquilla for the return flight to Bonaire.
