Kralendijk- According to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBC) in 2016, the volume of gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 2.2 percent on Bonaire. On St Eustatius and Saba, it fell by 1.0 and 0.5 percent, respectively. The total GDP volume in the Caribbean Netherlands increased by 1.4 percent. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports this based on newly released figures.

The GDP volume change is the development of GDP value, adjusted for price changes. For price adjustments, the consumer price index was used.

The total GDP value of the Caribbean Netherlands stood at 582 million US dollars in 2016. This was 3.2 percent up on the preceding year. Bonaire’s GDP rose by 4.6 percent to 434 million US dollars, while St Eustatius saw a decrease of 2.1 percent to 100 million US dollars. On Saba, GDP increased by 2.6 percent to 48 million US dollars.

GDP per capita again highest on St Eustatius
GDP per capita was highest on St Eustatius in 2016, representing a value of 26,100 US dollars. On Saba, GDP per capita amounted to 24,200 US dollars and on Bonaire 22,500 US dollars.
CBS has been measuring the GDP of the Caribbean Netherlands since 2012. Relative to 2012, GDP per capita rose on Bonaire (2.7 percent) and on Saba (13.1 percent) in 2016, but fell slightly on St Eustatius (0.8 percent).
