Jamaloodin Transferred to Prison Bonaire

Kralendijk- Former minister of Finance in Curaçao was transferred to the prison on Bonaire today, after arriving from Venezuela earlier this week. Jamaloodin was transported from Curaçao to Bonaire on a chartered EZ Air plane.

The extradition of the former minister was requested quite some time ago in connection with three investigations that are being carried out on Curaçao, in which studies Jamaloodin is considered a suspect. This concerns the Germanium, Passaat and Maximus investigations.

The first suspicion, covered by the Germanium investigation is that Jamaloodin, as the then Minister of Finance, has been involved in the misappropriation of approximately 450,000 guilders in subsidy money for the improvement of the Divi Divi sports field in the Steenrijk district in the period 2012-2014.

The Passaat investigation, which is a side-track of the Bientu investigation, is related to criminal acts in the context of the Tax Authorities in 2011, where Jamaloodin is suspected in connection with suspected of forgery.

In the Maximus investigation, Jamaloodin suspected of involvement in the murder of politician and Pueblo Soberano party leaders Helmin Wiels in May 2013. More specifically, the former minister is suspected to have ordered the murder of Wiels and to arrange the payment of those who actually shot Wiels.

It is unknown why Jamaloodin has been transferred to the prison in Bonaire, but observer suspect that is for the safety of the suspect.
