Oranjestad- State Secretary Raymond Knops of BZK is happy with the 2019 budget as prepared by the Interim Government of the island.

Knops states in a letter, dated December 21, 2018, that he is happy to see that progress is being made with the management of public finance on the island.

“Especially when it comes to readability and provision of information show great improvement” writes Knops in his letter to the Government Commissioners.

Knops also compliments the Interim Government of measures indicated in the 2019 budget presentation to get the 2020 budget on an even higher level. Knops furthermore states in his letter that he is aware that all needed improvements in the budgeting process will not be completed in just 1 year.

Knops notes that additional funds have been made available to achieve further improvements to Statia’s public finances.

Apart from approval of the 2019 budget, Knops has also given his approval to the 3rd 2018 ammendment as prepared by the Interim Government, led by Government Commissioner Mike Franco.
