Kralendijk- The Fundashon Cas Boneriano (FCB) would still like to start with a project to construct a total of 500 affordable homes on the island this year, but has still not been able to secure the necessary funding to do so. According to the housing foundation, demand for affordable housing continues to grow, while the waiting list with people hoping to get one of the foundation’s houses continues to grow every day.

FCB said that at the beginning of this year, they had meetings with the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Affairs (BZK), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment (I & M) and the Dutch Investment Authority (NIA) to explore the possibilities for funding. Additionally, more recently, meetings were held with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and various political leaders in the Netherlands to speak about the needed financing to start with the construction of the project.

According to FCB, the NIA is currently on behalf of FCB investigating the most viable options to secure the needed financing. The housing foundation sayid that they hope to get more clarity about the situation later this year.

FCB also said they hoped that a new government coalition in the Netherlands will provide more political support to realize the construction of affordable housing on the island.
